Investigation of fever without apparent source in children under age 3 continues to vary according to age. For me, this has always required a checklist, particularly since the advent of Hib and Pneumococcal vaccines. General principles are initially outlined, followed by a checklist according to age group. This material is all referenced prior to 2005, but a further review in 2007 has produced no new insights, therefore it continues to be reasonably current.
